Welcome to Spouse & Family!

This year is about cultivating sacred space and time where we can love, grow and worship together. Whether you're looking for connection through small groups, marriage enrichment, male bonding, spiritual formation, childcare, a women's retreat, or date nights, we'll help you find your fit and use your gifts. We're excited to make the seminary journey with you and your family.

Requesting Your Reflections...

The last Couple's Connect, on Nov. 16th, opened an avenue of sharing with one another that we would like to continue to foster.

As we journey together, this is a post we're making available to hear how we all continue to process.

Leave a comment about how you've been reflecting on that evening and what has happened since then.

Here's a recap of the night ~

We began together under the premise of Galatians 6:2, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." This night was about our individual wounds within the context of our marriage and community. We shared a moment of silence, to simply sit with one another and then we broke out into group of men and women. There, we entered into an invitation from James 5:16, "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." We listened to testimonies of God's work in people's life to help them face their wounds and receive healing. Each of us had the opportunity to then safely share our burden as we wrote it down and slipped it into a bag. That bag was passed around and we read each one, acknowledging and receiving them collectively. We were given the chance to draw what a symbol of freedom and reconciliation would look like in our lives as we ended that small group time together. We came back and sang in worship to the God who is mighty to save and read a number of Scriptures that speak of the truth we are trying to abide in. We capped off the night with delicious desserts and joyful fellowship. Each couple represented left with their choice of either book: Dr. Seamand's, Wounds that Heal or a redeemable gift certificate for Dan Allender's, The Healing Path to continue together what happened that night.

Please leave a comment on some of your thoughts: What was that evening like for you? What has happened in you since then? Where do you think we should go from here at Couple's Connect? What else do you want to say?

ps - Dan Allender's books will be available Monday, November 23rd in the Spouse & Family office at the student center at community life. Just bring your gift certificate to redeem.
